CHROMEBOOKS
U Prep Scholars may keep their Chromebooks
September 1, 2023
Great news! Our scholars who currently have school assigned "Chromebooks" will get to keep them throughout their tenure at U Prep!
Process for families with new and returning scholars: Parents will sign a new agreement each year as part of their registration packet. The packet will include the Technology Acceptable Use Agreement. Scholars will not have to return their device at the end of each school year unless they are leaving the U Prep Schools Network.
Please note: The “Chromebook” devices are still the property of U Prep Schools’ and scholars are expected to bring their “Chromebook” to class daily, fully charged.
You may also refer parents and scholars to our help page “Caring for your Chromebook”.
Families who meet the exceptions listed below - Will need to return the device to the school.
Graduating seniors.
Families leaving the District.
"Chromebooks" that are “end of life” and require a swap.
Broken/defective "Chromebooks".
Parents returning “Chromebooks” for scholars leaving the network (or graduating seniors) may drop off their chromebook at their scholars assigned school or the parent/scholar walk-up. IT will provide receipts to the schools for returned “Chromebooks”.
Scholars who have broken, or have defective,”Chromebooks” may visit “parent/scholar walk-up” (Mon-Wed, 12am-5pm, Thursday by appt only) for repair or exchange. District “chromebooks” should never be taken to outside repair services for any maintenance or repair.
Scholars with end of life “Chromebooks” may swap their device for a new one on their registration day or during the school year. IT will provide a list of scholars who meet this criteria.
